It was a beautiful day for a festival . . . We played a really fun one-hour set in the mid-afternoon sunshine . . . Box Set was the headliner.

"Band Camp Graduation"
Last Day Saloon, San Francisco, CA

After a week in Band Camp with Jorma Kaukonen, GE Smith, Jack Casady, Pete Sears, Jim Brunberg, and Jeff Pehrson, we played a gig at Last Day in San Francisco. Jorma, GE and Pete all sat in during the show, as did Mighty Dave Pelliciaro on organ. The version of Bert's blues Old Friend - featuring a killer solo by GE Smith - may be one of the best cuts the FOBs have ever done.

DB Alex. Brown Aspen Summit
Elk Mountain Lodge, Aspen, CO

Gigs at 9,200 feet above sea level are always tricky for vocals . . . but always fun for us!

July 2 and 3, 2000
High Sierra Music Festival
Quincy, CA

Our first festival gig was memorable. We played a mid-day Saturday set on the Americana stage, looking out on a sea of redwoods and colorful tents in the glorious sunshine. We knew we were in for a good day when a couple dozen people came out for our sound check. The full set went so well that we were invited to play an acoustic "tweener" set the following day. Pete Sears sat in for the tweener!

June 14, 2000
Sonoma-Marin Fair
Petaluma, CA

On a day when the heat set records in Petaluma, the temperature was 111 degrees at load-in and 105 when we played. The livestock at the Sonoma-Marin Fair really loved us! Box Set was the headliner.

June 7, 2000
Silver Lake Partners Annual Meeting
Pebble Beach Club, Carmel, CA

Due to logistical issues, Giles, Corinne and Ann couldn't be there, so we played our first gig as a quintet. Roger played mostly acoustic guitar. A very cool tape.

Our first gig at Slim's as a headliner! Sy Kloppsd with a killer blues set. The Silver Lining from this show is Roger's favorite version of that song.
Slim's is a popular S.F. "South of Market" nightclub owned by Boz Scaggs (333 11th St. at Harrison St., ) known for breaking in new acts as well as featuring established performers. Pollstar Magazine voted Slim's the best nightclub in America five out of the last eleven years, and for the past two years Slim's was awarded Best Bar & Club by the readers of the San Francisco Chronicle. The gig was tremendous. Sy Klopps ignited the audience with some of the best renditions of classics this side of Chicago. We played well, too. We had some chutzpah, playing mostly our originals from our two CDs, but the audience responded to them.
